Competitions

Competitions are decided in the last week. Producing images yourself means a facade change three days before the deadline stays possible.

In short

VEDUTUM’s competition visualisation lets you produce the three images a competition board carries yourself: the building in its real surroundings, an eye-level perspective from the main viewpoint, and a section or interior that explains the idea. It changes the schedule more than the quality, because the design can still move while the images are already being made. Images are priced in points: one in HD, four in 2K and eight in 4K.

Key facts

  • Board content

A competition board usually carries three images: context, eye level and the idea.

  • Resolution

An A0 board in landscape at 150 dpi needs about 7020 × 4966 pixels, and the 4K level covers a half-width image.

  • Late changes

Camera, sun and materials are settings, so a late facade change means a new set of images, not a new commission.

  • Cost

Images are priced in points: one in HD, four in 2K and eight in 4K.

Which three images does a competition board need?

  • In context

The volume with the real neighbouring buildings, seen from where people arrive.

  • Eye level

The pedestrian view, around 24 mm, camera at 1.60 m.

  • The idea

A section perspective or interior that carries the concept.

What resolution does a competition board need?

Pixels = centimetres ÷ 2.54 × dpi. An A0 board in landscape at 150 dpi needs about 7020 × 4966 pixels, so a half-width image needs roughly 3500 pixels — the 4K level covers that.

Check the brief: many competitions prescribe scales, board formats and sometimes the viewpoints and even the date and time for the sun.

How do you keep the deadline in the last week?

  1. Fix the cameras early

Set the camera positions as soon as the volume stands, even while the facade is open. Then a material change is a new image, not a new order.

  2. Keep one image dominant

Keep one image dominant per board. In the first round juries scan; what is not readable in seconds does not exist.

Frequently asked questions

What resolution does an A0 board need?

About 7020 × 4966 pixels at 150 dpi for the full board. A half-width image needs roughly 3500 pixels, which the 4K level covers.

How much do competition images cost?

One point per image in HD, four in 2K and eight in 4K. A new account has 90 points for 30 days to try it out, with no payment details — enough to try the workflow on a real entry.

Can we change the design late?

Yes. Camera, sun and materials are settings, so a new set of images takes minutes rather than a new commission.

Are AI-assisted images allowed in competitions?

That depends on the brief. Some procedures ask how images were produced, so state the route when nothing is prescribed.

Which three images should a competition board carry?

The building in its context, an eye-level view from the main viewpoint, and a section or interior that carries the idea.

Can I use my own model for a competition?

Yes. A glTF or GLB model can be uploaded, or the geometry is built from your floor plan.

How long do you wait for an image today?
